Master in International Affairs and Diplomacy (UOC, UNITAR)
The master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy has been designed for diplomats and government officials involved in international affairs, as well as others involved in international relations and seeking a future career in this field. The master’s program has been designed in conjunction with UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research) and is taught by UOC and UNITAR faculty. The program aims to provide students with a general introduction to international affairs and specific geopolitical issues, while developing and strengthening the diplomatic skills required for both effectiveness and efficiency in supporting governments, universal and regional organizations, non-governmental actors and the private sector. The goal of this master’s degree is to help mold the next generation of leaders within the international public service, business and non-governmental organizations. Upon successful completion of the UOC-UNITAR master’s degree, you will be able to address issues related to foreign engagement across a variety of geographic locations and across multiple academic disciplines, allowing you to advance your professional career.

Access and qualification requirements
To be admitted to the Master in International Affairs and Diplomacy, candidates must be fluent in English, possess a valid passport or national identity card and hold a university degree.

Final assignment
Consists of 15 credits and each student is tutored by a master’s thesis tutor throughout the semester.
Information of interest
Students may request, if they wish, to be exempted from taking one of the subjects pertaining to geographical areas of the world by demonstrating through documents a minimum of 100 hours of professional experience related to the area of the world corresponding to the subject requested.
The Master offers two Field Visits: A 5-day visit to Geneva (Switzerland) to get to know different international organizations based in that city.
A 5-day visit to The Hague (The Netherlands) to visit the city of peace and justice that has its headquarters in that city.
Both visits are voluntary and are not required to pass the master’s program. Each visit has a cost of US$ 1500 to be paid to UNITAR.
