Master in Conflict, Peace and Security (UOC)
Developed with the combined expertise of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) the Master in Conflict, Peace and Security aims to equip participants with a broad set of skills, first-hand knowledge and unique expertise from the field. The master’s and postgraduate programs (see more information below) are suitable for professionals working in conflict zones, within the framework of regional, governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as for graduate students, young researchers or other academics interested in increasing their knowledge of conflict and acquiring skills on how to better resolve it.

Objectives / Competencies
• To know the theory, its different approaches and characteristics of contemporary conflicts.
• To acquire the skills of analysis and action planning in peaceful interventions in conflicts, both from the perspective of prevention and intervention during the development of the conflict.
• To learn techniques and strategies for an intelligent and non-violent intervention in conflict situations.
• To have access to information and knowledge to know how to develop effective intervention programs and to know how to manage the search for specific and positive solutions.
• To be able to lead and facilitate negotiation and mediation processes.
• Transform the way of communicating both to prevent and defuse conflicts.
